RE-USA.COM...how
it all began
RE-USA.COM began
around two years ago. For us, it all began as a game, an attempt
to survive in this world, to rough for Spanish rock lovers. We thought
we were the only people in the U.S whose great passion was this
genre, so we set out to create a small page, in which we could include
a bit of information about our cd's, concerts we had been to, a
few pictures and one or two articles.
At first, as it is now,
it was
time-consuming: from the graphics to the hours spent deciding how
everything should be put together. Nancy worked hard in the writing
"department", specially on the front page text, which was so well
received by the public that it was later published by several Texas
publications, and was viewed as a sort of anthem by people who identified
themselves with us. *view

Slowly, everything began
to fall into place, and after hundreds of mails, many hours surfing
the net trying to let people know we existed, we began to see a
response.
After a few months, we
began to realize how popular the site was becoming. We received
many e-mails from people expressing their support, and encouraging
us to keep it up. We also began to receive many letters from bands
who felt a lack of support from recording labels, radio stations,
and T.V., and were looking for an alternative medium of exposure.
Many of them sent us their material for us to, within our possibilities,
give them some publicity. Up to date, we have received material
of bands from around ten different countries.
|
| 1999 was of primordial
importance to us. We have met people with much more experience than
ourselves, and who have helped us in many great ways, so much, that
we want to mention some of them: Angel Aguirre (Metafora Magazine
- Dallas,TX), Luis Zapata and Michael Hernandez (Latino
Rock Alliance - Austin, TX), Xavier Campos (Planeta X - Waco,
TX), Judith Bermudez (El Antro - San Antonio, TX) Gilbert
Guerrero (KOOP - Austin, TX) |
También este año fue
súper importante no solo para nosotros, sino para el movimiento en
si. Este año en el área de Austin y San Antonio, han habido mas de
30 conciertos en los cuales el Rock en Español ha sido la máxima atracción.
| We
had the opportunity to attend significant events, and we were
able to meet bands as re-knowned as: Café Tacuba, Jaguares,
Molotov, Control Machete, and bands that are truly
revolutionizing the U.S. like ¡Viva Malpache!, Volumen
Cero, Voz de Mano among others. |
 |
|
| We will continue with
our dedication not only to rock en Español, but to all the bands,
and the fans, and all those who fill like they are alone in their
appreciation for this incredible genre, however, we need all the support
we can get from people like you. |
| We want to thank all
the people who have believed in us, and given us a hand, guidance,
and support. |
