Los Amigos Invisibles
(The Invisible Friends)
Directly from Venezuela, and ready to release their most recent
production, Areba 3000, Los Amigos
Invisibles make their comeback to show us their newest
aptitudes and musical ideas. With influences so varied and
colorful coming from funk, hip-hop, salsa and other Latin
currents.
Formed in 1991
and born as an answer to the political situation that Venezuela
lived and to the new originating currents coming from London,
like acid jazz. Los Amigos Invisibles began appearing
in clubs that had their apogee in the seventies when the oil
explosion was in height and economic freedom in the air was
breathed. Also, their beginnings date from playing on baptisms,
private weddings and other celebrations.
They released The
New Sound of The Venezuelan Gozadera album in 1997,
which caught the attention of Luaka Bop's, David Byrne.
He had the belief that Los Amigos Invisibles could
become one of the most visible bands from Venezuela. Some
publications have called them the band with the most projection
in their native country.
The band is guided
by the lead singer Julio Briceño and their guitar
player, Jose Luis Pardo, which say that they are not
a rock band, but a "dance" band that together with
a good Dj, are the energy any party needs.
It is interesting
to hear their music and suddenly listen house dance tunes
and and to realize that the next song of the same album since
they handle salsa, and even funk.
